How does sun affect the skin when traveling in an airplane?

Altitude affects UV radiation. UV increases about 2% for every 1,000 foot increase in elevation. At the pilot seat, flying for 56.6 minutes at 30,000 feet, you could get the same amount of radiation from a 20-minute tanning bed session! So be sure to put on SPF before every flight.
